Let's Get To Know Billy Yoder

Billy Yoder

“To become successful, you need to put in the time.” Billy Yoder

Billy Yoder was born and raised around horses. He has been a professional horse trainer since 2010. Within the first few years of being a professional trainer, he started showing in several different disciplines, including saddle seat, gaited showing, fine harness driving, roadster, halter, and ranch pleasure. By 2015, Billy turned completely to showing in ranch versatility and found a passion for this type of horse. Billy has experience working with different breeds of horses as a trainer and in the show pen, including Quarter horses, Paints, Appaloosas, Morgans, Saddlebreds, Hackney Ponies, and Mustangs.

Riding good horses has brought Billy success in the show pen. He is a 2-time Open High Point Champion and has multiple Open High Point Reserve Champions at the Wisconsin Foundation Quarter Horse Registry (WiFQHR). His team was the 2015 Ride for the Brand Challenge Champion at the Northern Stock Horse Organization (NSHO). Billy was also the 2017 Midwest Horse Fair Reserve Ranch Horse Champion, 2018 North Dakota 50/50 Futurity Champion, 2021 L1 Limited Open Derby Champion at the North Central Reined Cow Horse Association (NCRCHA), and 2022 American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) Versatility Ranch Horse (VRH) Open Ranch Cutting Reserve World Champion. Not only has Billy found success in the show pen, but also his clients whom he has coached.

Billy developed a desire to help people understand how to develop a well-rounded ranch horse. Since 2015, his clinic schedule has increased, and he now does clinics year-round with a minimum of six clinics per year, focusing on ranch versatility. His clinics are well sought after because of his reputation for helping and inspiring people. He is excited to join the Ranch Horse Academy team and looks forward to sharing his knowledge with others.

“On the rider side of the equation, Billy has much the same take as he does with the horses. He is able to convey his knowledge and understanding in an uncomplicated way in which the rider can walk away with the steps of what to do and the why behind it.” Kari M.

“I have known Billy Yoder for over ten years as his client and veterinarian. When I sent him my first horse to become a reined cow horse, I made the decision based on absolute trust of his ability to be good to my horse, spend the time that it needed, and to be kind to the horse but firm when needed. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Billy over the years and in 2026 will be sending my third horse to him with great expectations.” Sabine H.
